Etymology

"Dingir" (𒀭) is the Sumerian word for "god". The base kanji for Dingir (神 Kami) is also the Japanese word for "god", "deity", "divinity", or "spirit".

Overview

In the Z/X - Zillions of enemy X- TCG, Dingir (as well as the concept of Z/X Extra and Dynamis) are first teased in Set 15 and its accompanying story before officially introduced in Set 16. Dingir cards has their own specific card frame, with the Dingir icon printed on the left side of the card and special characters (known as Dingir character) printed horizontally on the right side of the card. In addition, all of them also possessed a secondary tribe.

In general, the Dingir can be separated into two category based on their visual differences and story significance: the one that was originally released during the Code:Dingir storyline (the original Dingir) and the one that was released from Code:Samsara onward ("Puluhtu" and "Asipu").

Original Dingir

True to the original etymology, the Dingir that was released during the Code:Dingir storyline are based on various deities or mythical beings from ancient Mesopotamian mythologies, particularly Sumerian and Akkadian. Their secondary tribes and the Dingir characters written on those Dingir are the same as their own name, and with the exception of Gilgamesh, all of the Dingir also possessed a title specific to them.

Based on their secondary tribes, there are a total of 25 different kind of those Dingir with 5 Dingir for each color (2 multicolored and 3 monocolored Dingir). 20 of those Dingir that was released in the main sets are also associated with one of the four main tribe from each worlds.

"Puluhtu" and "Asipu"

Main articles: Puluhtu and Asipu

After the conclusion of Code:Dingir storyline, Set 20 introduces the secondary kind of Dingir that was based on the "Puluhtu" from the story. Unlike the original Dingir, they possessed regular tribe as their secondary tribe instead of their own specific tribe, and they have the Dingir character for "PULUHTU" instead of their own name on the right side of the card. Other than that, the new Dingir does not have any gameplay differences with the original Dingir.

Set 23 later introduces another variant of Dingir that was based on the "Asipu" from the story. They are essentially the same as the "Puluhtu" Dingir, but with the Dingir character for "ASIPU" on the right side of the card and a slightly different Dingir icon on the left side.
