In Z/X -Zillions of enemy X- TCG, cards can be classified into several different types:

A card may only possess one of these types. The card type itself is printed in the upper left corner of the card.

In addition, markers created and used during the game also have their own types:

Unlike regular cards, it is possible for a marker to possess both its own type and regular card type.

Comprehensive Rules[]

202 Card Type

  • 202.1 Represent the type of a card. Card type is determined by the content of this representation.
  • 202.2 A card may possess either "Z/X", "Event", "Player", "Z/X Extra", "Z/X Overboost", "Shift", "Event Extra", or "Player Extra" type.
  • 202.2a Some markers may possess either "Token", "Counter", or "Link" type.
  • 202.3 If "Z/X" is written in the card type representation, the type of that card is Z/X.
  • 202.4 If "EVENT" is written in the card type representation, the type of that card is Event.
  • 202.5 If "PLAYER" is written in the card type representation, the type of that card is Player.
  • 202.6 If "Z/X EX" is written in the card type representation, the type of that card is Z/X Extra.
  • 202.6a During the game, Z/X Extra is also treated as Z/X.
  • 202.7 If "Z/X OB" is written in the card type representation, the type of that card is Z/X Overboost.
  • 202.7a During the game, Z/X Overboost is also treated as Z/X.
  • 202.7b Z/X Overboost is split into an upper part and lower part, and becomes a single card by combining each of them.
  • 202.7c Although the face-down lower part of Z/X Overboost is not open to public, you can look at the lower part of your own Z/X Overboost as you like.
  • 202.7d If a face-up Z/X Overboost is on Square and it does not possess a Player Name, that Z/X Overboost has the same Player Name as the Player Name of face-down card with Player card type owned by its controller. If the face-down card with Player card type does not possess a Player Name, the Player Name of that card is the same as the card name of that card.
  • 202.7e While a Z/X Overboost is on Square, the player that controls it does not receive damage.
  • 202.7f While a Z/X Overboost is on Square, cards with Player card type owned by the player that control it cannot be used as cost for a card's ability, and is unaffected by a card's effect.
  • 202.7g A player can only put 1 of their own Z/X Overboost on Square.
  • 202.8 If "SHIFT" is written in the card type representation, the type of that card is Shift.
  • 202.8a If a Shift is being put on the top of a card, they are treated as a single card. Unless indicated otherwise, they are treated as a single card for the purpose of applying effect and moving between zones.
  • 202.8b If a Shift is being put on the top of a card, and any ability refers to a Shift, each Shift card that is being placed on the top of a card is referred to as a single card.
  • 202.8c If there is already a Shift that you control on Square, you cannot play any Shift.
  • 202.8d Shift cannot exist on its own on Square, and is put on the top of a card on Square designated by the text (Shift Vessel). A card with Shift put on it has the information possessed by the Shift added to it in addition to the information possessed by that card.
  • 202.8e Information added by Shift are "card name", "card text", "color", and "Tribe". The added card information is marked with Plus Icon (207.11) in the Shift.
  • 202.8f If the color or Tribe added by the Shift overlaps with the one originally possessed by the card that has the Shift put on it, it won't be added.
  • 202.9 If "EV EX" is written in the card type representation, the type of that card is Event Extra.
  • 202.9a During the game, Event Extra is also treated as Event.
  • 202.10 If "PL EX" is written in the card type representation, the type of that card is Player Extra.
  • 202.10a During the game, Player Extra is also treated as Player.
  • 202.10b Although face-down Player Extra is not open to public, you can look at your own Player Extra as you like.
  • 202.10c If a face-up Player Extra is being put on the top of a card with Player card type, they are treated as a single card. Unless indicated otherwise, they are treated as a single card for the purpose of applying effect and moving between zones.
  • 202.10d If a face-up Player Extra is being put on the top of a card with Player card type, each of their parameters are added to and can be referred by Player Extra, and if those cards possess any ability, all valid abilities can be played and their effect can be applied.
  • 202.11 If "TOKEN" is written in the card type representation, the type of that marker is Token.
  • 202.11a Although Token is not a card, it is placed as a card if it appears on Square, and possesses a specified card type.
  • 202.11b If the card type of a Token is Z/X or Z/X Extra, it possesses parameters such as Cost, Power, color, card name, Tribe, ability, and so on.
  • 202.11c After a Token is created and put into a zone, if it is put into another zone other than being moved from a Square onto another Square, that Token disappears (913).
  • 202.11d The parameter possessed by a Token is represented by a dedicated marker.
  • 202.12 If "COUNTER" is written in the card type representation, the type of that marker is Counter.
  • 202.12a Counter is not treated as card.
  • 202.12b Each player records the numbers of their own Counter. This is treated as the Counter created by the player. The number of Counter possessed by each player at the start of the game is 0.
  • 202.12c If a Counter is created, the player places markers that record the number of Counter so that the opponent can verify the amount.
  • 202.12d If a player expends a Counter, reduce the amount of recorded Counter. At this moment, the number of recorded Counter cannot be reduced to less than 0.
  • 202.12e The parameter possessed by a Counter is represented by a dedicated marker.
  • 202.13 If "LINK" is written in the card type representation, the type of that marker is Link.
  • 202.13a Although Link is not a card, it is placed as a card if it is put on Square.
  • 202.13b If a player creates their own Link, they choose a Square, and put it on that Square. It will be treated as the Link created by the player. The number of Link put onto Square at the start of the game is 0.
  • 202.13c If a Link is created, the player puts a marker that represents the Link's information on a specified Square so that the opponent can confirm it.
  • 202.13d If a Link is put into another zone other than being moved from a Square onto another Square, that Link is banished (915).
  • 202.13e Link cannot be chosen by card, except by card that specifies Link.
  • 202.13f Link is unaffected by card's ability or effect, except by card that specifies Link.
  • 202.13g The parameter possessed by a Link is represented by a dedicated marker.
